Update From This Side of Providence

- 1 -

These last few weeks I've drawn on kids' faces...

Take away containers...

and then I did some tattoos with smeary washable markers.

I drew folk at the mall discreetly so they wouldn't get all "why are you freaking drawing me!!!", but then I had friends who reacted that way anyways when they were perfectly aware I was trying to immortalize them in BLUE MARKER.  The last dude on the bottom right will remain a mystery to you and me.

I don't have many deepisms rolling around in my brain today but I have been thinking of something my dad always taught me that I see in my life and in the lives of others every day: if you treat a person as if they are gold they will become even more brilliant than they ever believed but if you treat a person like dirt they will become more pitiful than they ever thought possible.

Mrs. Higgins: However did you learn good manners with my son around?

Eliza Doolittle: It was very difficult. I should never have known how ladies and gentlemen really behaved, if it hadn't been for Colonel Pickering. He always showed what he thought and felt about me as if I were something better than a common flower girl. You see, Mrs. Higgins, apart from the things one can pick up, the difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she is treated. I shall always be a common flower girl to Professor Higgins, because he always treats me like a common flower girl, and always will. But I know that I shall always be a lady to Colonel Pickering, because he always treats me like a lady, and always will.

And if you're scratching your brain for a summer read I recommend the Scorpio Races. Deadly Water Horse race off the coast of Ireland. Pretty. Cool.

Let's be honest I usually forget what was read last Sunday by the next Sunday but I didn't forget yet and that's a big deal. The Psalm and Second Reading >> emphasis mine.

Psalms 30: 2, 4 - 6, 11 - 13
2O LORD my God, I cried to thee for help, and thou hast healed me.
4Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name.
5For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
6As for me, I said in my prosperity, "I shall never be moved."
11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; thou hast loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
12that my soul may praise thee and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to thee for ever

2 Corinthians 8: 7, 9, 13 - 15
7Now as you excel in everything -- in faith, in utterance, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in your love for us -- see that you excel in this gracious work also.
9For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.
13I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened,
14but that as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their want, so that their abundance may supply your want, that there may be equality.
15As it is written, "He who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack."
